WEDDING Planning Tips

Having photographed weddings for the last decade -
I have seen what works really well and I’m always happy to share these tips.

Planning your wedding need not be overwhelming, follow these easy tips to ensure your wedding day is a success.

Light

All light is not equal!! The light is softest to sunset when the shadows are minimal.
I always try to sneak couples out for 15 minutes during this magical light.

When planning your outdoor ceremony try to stand in the same light. The sun should be even and backlit. Harsh shadows are harsh shadows and not sexy at all.

Reception lighting is so important. Creating atmosphere with candles, fairy lights and the use of the same colour always looks amazing. Mixed lighting or coloured wall lighting is so 90's.

Create a wedding timeline is easy with these steps

Timing

Stress free relaxed weddings are all about planning and working out a solid timeline. During our initial catch up I will chat through how much time you need for each part of your day.
Brides to be - aim to be finished with hair and makeup 90 minutes before you need to leave for your ceremony. This allows for enough time to keep things relaxed. A typically wedding day may look like the following: Allow for 2 minutes per family formal, travel time between prep locations and 15 minutes around sunset for epic last light images.

12:30pm Groom's prep
1:30pm   Bride's prep
3:30pm   Ceremony
4:00pm   Ceremony finishes
4:15pm   Family photos
4:35pm   Mingle with guests
5:45pm   Bridal Party photos
6:30pm   Reception begins
6:45pm   Entree
7:15pm   Speeches
7:45pm   Mains
8:45pm   First Dance
9:00pm   Party time

Memories fade - Budgeting for ALBUMS

I want all couples to have some form of an heirloom to remember their wedding day by. All the months of planning, dreams had and ideas thought out deserve a place to be remembered.

I have always offered the highest quality products to each couple. Albums are in my eyes the very best way to showcase your wedding day story.

Adding an heirloom product to your package can add up. It is your choice naturally but seriously consider this when budgeting for your photography. Cakes will get eaten, flowers will wilt, memories will fade, your dress will be boxed up so just ask yourselves how you would like to remember your wedding day.
